Kashmiri Kahwa Tea

Ingredients:
2 and a 1/2 cups water
2 cloves
2 green cardamoms
1 inch cinnamon stick
2 tsp sugar or according to taste.
2 tsp Kashmiri Kahwa (Green tea) tea leaves
4-5 strands of saffron
4-5 almonds – blanched and cut into thin strips

Preparation:
1.In a mortar and pestle grind the cloves, cardamoms and cinnamon to a coarse powder.
2.Bring the water to a boil, add in the sugar and the spice powder. Allow it to simmer for 1 minute.
3. Drop in the leaves , cover and let it brew for 2 minutes.
4. While it brews add a spoon of warm water to the saffron strands and using the mortar & pestle make a smooth paste till the saffron strands dissolve and you get a beautiful orange liquid.
5. After 2 minutes of brewing add the saffron to the tea.
6. Strain and pour into warm tea cups( I pour some warm water into the cups to heat them). Garnish with almond shavings and serve immediately!
